It's not May the 4th... but just the same Royal Mail is releasing a new set of Star Wars stamps.
Special stamp sets like this can be attractive to collectors from outside the philately world. According to Royal Mail, its Star Wars stamp set issued in 2015 to mark the release of Star Wars: The Force Awakens was "hugely popular".
Included in the 2017 stamp set are: Maz Kanata (ancient pub landlord); Chewbacca (hairy co-pilot); Supreme Leader Snoke (Jar Jar Binks, if you believe internet conspiracy theories); and from the new movie, a Porg (which may or may not be edible). The droids on the new stamps are: BB-8; R2-D2; C-3PO; and K-2SO.
The four droid stamps include fluorescent ink to emphasise some of the design features of the stamps. These will become visible only under a UV light.
The stamps will be on sale from 12 October 2017 at www.royalmail.com/starwars and from 7,000 Post Office branches across the UK.
