One day the human race will disappear from this planet, just as thousands of other species before us, and nature won’t notice.
That’s the theme of the latest arty parcel lockers from Lietuvos Paštas (Lithuanian Post). This parcel locker installation, in Vilnius, has been created by Lithuanian artist and photographer Algis Kriščiūnas.
“It is not the world that needs us, but us that needs her, so let us be more modest and restrained so that our children still have some space here.” - Algis Kriščiūnas
While the theme might not sound overly optimistic, it fits in with the theme of reducing emissions. Lietuvos Paštas says its parcel lockers save more than 3.3 million kilometres driven by couriers each year, which translates into 380 tonnes of fuel and 665 tonnes of carbon dioxide annually.
To sweeten the deal, customers who use these lockers have the chance to win cloth shopping bags with the works of these artists printed on them. Gifts will be available in randomly selected parcel terminal boxes.
Later this month two more lockers (in Kaunas and Vilnius) will be given the artistic treatment.
