Yellow and red are the new black

Yellow and red are the new black

Ian Kerr

Yellow DHL t-shirts made their debut on the runway (fashion, not air hub) in 2015, when the Vetements label featured the t-shirt in its fashion show. The following summer the t-shirt became a must-have item, despite the £185 price tag. ONE HUNDRED AND EIGHTY-FIVE POUNDS! Ponder that for a moment.

Well, the fashion friendship between DHL and Vetements continues, and just recently DHL presented a selection of clothing from Vetements' spring/summer 2018 collection ... at the DHL hub at Leipzig airport.

The "VETEMENTS x DHL Capsule Collection" plays with elements from DHL uniforms that are worn by more than 200,000 employees around the world. One assumes that DHL employees don't have to stump up an absurd amount of money to wear their own uniform.

Anyway, the casual collection presented in Leipzig included shirts, skirts, caps and socks in DHL's corporate colours - and the items will also feature the DHL logo.

"The current collection again shows that red and yellow are never out of style," said Arjan Sissing, head of Global Brand Marketing at Deutsche Post DHL Group, who has clearly never seen me try to pull off red or yellow.

Check out some of the collection below. I don't think the delivery centre health and safety rep would let you near sorting equipment wearing those boots, though.
